During backups the machine created some checkpoints and the machine was running on avhdx files. After that the temporarly avhdx files and vhdx files were deleted from the vm.

29.08.2017 · So in my example I had a situation where SQL could not create the Checkpoint file (due to the backup location being incorrect) nor able to delete the file , this did not affect my restore this completed successfully but if I had wanted to restart from an interrupt then this would not have been possible and I would have had to reissue the original statement.
14.11.2019 · In one of them, i am unable to remove the checkpoints. If i try to delete them i get: "The operation failed because the file was not found". I guess this has something to do when we moved the vhdx files to D: to E: drive. (I did not do the job so i dont know how he did it).
