Mar 01, 2018 · Problem is the "checkpoints" section in Hyper-V manager says "The selected virtual machine has no checkpoints" If I navigate to the snapshots folder it is full of 50 folders and 50 XML files with complementary names, but the folders are all empty.
01.03.2018 · Several VMs are able to create and delete checkpoints without issue. Two of them cannot create a checkpoint, throwing an error indicating that the limit of 50 checkpoints has been reached. 13.08.2020 · This will bring back the VM with its checkpoints. Start at method 1 and try to clean them up. Reattach the VHDX. If, for some reason, the checkpoint process did not merge the disks, do that manually first. If you need instructions, look at the section after the final method. Re-establish clustering, if applicable.

26.02.2021 · However Veeam, or more specifically Hyper-V now reports it cannot create a checkpoint because the max of 50 has been reached however there are no checkpoints. Nothing in the snapshot directory, it is still using the main VHXD files, Powershell reports no Checkpoints, they simply are not there.
