The Char B1 was a French heavy tank manufactured before World War II and it is the heaviest French vehicle in FHSW. It was also, together with the Matilda II tank, the heaviest armored tank during the Fall of France and it got, together with the Char 2C, the heaviest armament during the Fall of France. This tank was a frightening for the Germans. Even the Pzkpfw III was not strong enough to damage the Char B1 heavy.

Au combat, les chars B1 bis se comportèrent assez bien contre les Allemands. Il s'agissait certainement d'un char trop sophistiqué pour son temps, d'un entretien et d'un emploi difficiles, à la transmission un peu délicate et d'une autonomie trop faible (Le fameux char Tiger allemand cumulait les mêmes qualités et défauts).

La première commande de ce char, désigné par l’appellation B1 Bis, eut lieu en janvier 1936.

The Char B1 bis had a top speed of 25 km/h (16 mph) provided by a 307 bhp (229 kW) petrol engine. The first batch of 35 Char B1 bis used the original engine but from 1938 to May 1940 they were slowly re-equipped. Its weight was about 31.5 tonnes. The operational range was about 180 km (110 mi) which was similar to other tanks of the period.

Due to a long design and correction process, the vehicle would only enter service in late 1935/1936.
