Short answer yes. Putting money where your mouth is. DDG is privacy oriented service, or at least claims to be. By using it you show that there is a need for such a service, that there is a demand. You can use other alternatives such as qwant, searx, startpage. DDG is not miracle solution to your online privacy DDG is just one service.
DuckDuckGo says it doesn't track you, it doesn't send your searches to other sites, by default it does not use any cookies, it does not collect personal information, it does not log your IP address or other information about your computer that may be sent automatically with your searches, it doesn't store any personal information at all.
I recommend startpage which is an EU/Netherlands based company that acts as a gateway between you and Google, so you get Google search results, but Google doesn't know you and can't track you (SP promise that they won't either), or searx as a good, non-tracking meta-engine. I have to admit that I haven't yet really tried Qwant.
There's no way for DuckDuckGo to hide your IP address from Reddit if you enter on Reddit, even if you're using the DuckDuckGo app. If you want to hide your IP address from Reddit, you should use the Tor browser or a VPN. DuckDuckGo is not a VPN. They just don't store your IP when you do a search, but its policy doesn't apply outside of it. 8

DuckDuckGo; Google is still the librarian, however, instead of asking the librarian where you can find books about dogs, you ask a friend to do that for you and pass along the information.
All DuckDuckGo traffic uses HTTPS which means it's encrypted, but some part of the address has to be unencrypted so it can be routed across the web. However, when you click on a search result the website you go to may not use HTTPS, in which case nothing is encrypted.

So I tried duckduckgo for the last week and I saw the same pattern as with google. If you click on the link, the link changes to a different link which just redirects to the page you wanted but it also gives the abiltiy to track on which links the users click. For example I search for reddit.
