Short answer yes. Putting money where your mouth is. DDG is privacy oriented service, or at least claims to be. By using it you show that there is a need for such a service, that there is a demand. You can use other alternatives such as qwant, searx, startpage. DDG is not miracle solution to your online privacy DDG is just one service.

Duck Duck Go is accessible through the TOR network without the use of a bridge. Google tries to block TOR users because it knows they cannot collect useful information from them to sell.

I recommend startpage which is an EU/Netherlands based company that acts as a gateway between you and Google, so you get Google search results, but Google doesn't know you and can't track you (SP promise that they won't either), or searx as a good, non-tracking meta-engine.

you should use DuckDuckGo because the duck mascot is cute!! :P (Just kidding, hehe ) You have no obligation to buy in into my pitch, but as what the wise old gentleman has said, DDG is all about securing your privacy & nothing else. No logs, no cookies, no traces.

The value of DDG or IxQuick is that they emphasizes protecting searchers' privacy and avoiding the filter bubble of personalized search results. By using personalized results, google can find stuff you have shown an interest in and display it near the top. The down side of this is that they can/do filter what you see.

As you’re probably aware, Google has a poor reputation when it comes to collecting data on users, along with other privacy issues.

Asked how the quality of Tailcat-powered results vs Google Eich described it as “quite good”, adding that it “will only get better with adoption”. The key to its indexing will be people actually using it. Much like when DuckDuckGo was at the start, the results being returned weren’t as good as Google but now it’s much better.

DuckDuckGo is not safe. I am surprised to see DuckDuckGo depicted as a "Privacy Respecting Search Engine". Hosted in the US, so it is de facto subject to the Patriot Act. Hosted by Amazon (worse than Google for collecting personal data)
