Duck Duck Go has got to be at least 1000 times better than my former favorite Google Chrome. I'm definitely going to have all my family switch also once they here about it and how well it works. It's worth noting that DuckDuckGo doesn't use Google at all. Their results are a blend of Bing, Yahoo, Yandex and their own crawler/analysis.

you should use DuckDuckGo because the duck mascot is cute!! :P (Just kidding, hehe ) You have no obligation to buy in into my pitch, but as what the wise old gentleman has said, DDG is all about securing your privacy & nothing else. No logs, no cookies, no traces.

I don't think it's quite as bad as the article says, because Duck Duck Go uses Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS), but I think the point is still the same. The NSA would need to maintain a persistent/embedded attack on DDG servers versus just steal the SSL cert, at least for people using modern browsers that support PFS.

Now the librarian knows that your friend wants to know more about dogs - instead of you. DuckDuckGo is everybody's friend, therefore everybody (using DuckDuckGo) is the same person - resulting in anonymity. Same principle applies to DuckDuckGo with Bing/Yahoo/whatever they support. Embedding the top search result was a fantastic idea, and something Google seems to be following suit with these days for many things. But the search operators alone are so convenient that it's worth giving DDG a try.
