DuckDuckGo is ranked 1st while Bing is ranked 12th. The most important reason people chose DuckDuckGo is: DuckDuckGo does not collect or share any personal information. Their [privacy page] [1] has a great rundown on why privacy is important.
Bing yields poor results too, but slightly better and this is interesting to me because I thought DuckDuckGo takes much of its results from Bing's API: screenshot link. Website is the first. Missing GitHub. Missing Twitter account. No other related links
DDG grabs a lot of the results from bing. Considering that it also has other sources and it's own crawler, I'd say ddg has better results. As for the features, I think ddg is one of the best search engines in terms of features.
12.06.2020 · So if DuckDuckGo is pulling results through a partner search engine like Bing, wouldn’t that mean that Bing has access to the data around who searched that query? DuckDuckGo says no. According to their website, they maintain their privacy commitment by proxying the query through servers so it stays anonymous.
I use duckduckgo as my default search engine, but for complex searches I go back to google. Google is still the best search engine, but I don't need the best most of the time. I prefer my security. I don't use bing for much.
