The driver version 470 brought along hardware acceleration for XWayland, which is a compatibility layer of sorts for running X11 software on Wayland. It is my understand that Firefox VAAPI only supports GBM supported drivers and does not support Nvidia’s EGLStreams.

I've really been looking forward to getting GNOME 40 with multi-touch support. As I understand it, Ubuntu 21.10 is supposed to bring Wayland support to computers with NVIDIA drivers (I'm running version 470.74).

I use GNOME Wayland + Nvidia sometimes though and it's stable enough that the bugs are just an annoyance. If I switch to Intel graphics (also have been using a laptop with integrated graphics + Sway for more than a year), then there are no issues at all, presumably AMD has a similar experience. 1. Reply. I just installed the proprietary nvidia drivers on my Fedora 34 Workstation. Everything works fine, except I seemingly cannot use a Gnome-Wayland session with the Nvidia driver. At least it's not listed in system info as graphics card, it is if I start Gnome with Xorg.
