30.05.2018 · Veeam – Failed to index guest file system in job backup When setting up jobs under Veeam Backup, some backups ended in a Warning state with the following message: Failed to index guest file system. Veeam Guest Agent is not started. The solution proposed in this tutorial is to use local administrator authentication.
13.02.2014 · Run the command: Diskshadow /L C:\writers.txt Run the command: list writers Open the file that was created and and locate the VM name in the section for the Hyper-V writer. For each VM there's a "Caption" entry. The caption should read "online" or "child partition", and not "offline" or "saved state".

11.08.2015 · Been trying to crack down this one with Veeam but so far nobody there was able to help so hopefully here. I'm getting the event above (see screenshot) on only one server. Been working fine 3 days ago but not sure what has changed. VMware Tools are showing current and updated on vSphere.
So i've used the full Veeam B&R and know how to restore everything in that context. But for a few machines (a laptop, a few ubuntu servers with no gui, etc), i have just installed the Veeam agent and saved backups to an smb share on a NAS - not using a Veeam B&R server.
Server 2012 R2 or later guests are not supported for VSS-enabled (AAIP) ... the issue without the need to run the Veeam Backup & Replication job again.
06.11.2014 · In this case VEEAM was using VMware VIX API communication with the guest to freeze/unfreeze the VSS writers: This communication was too slow (command for unfreeze happend >20 sec. after the freeze, which caused the VSS Exchange writer to fail and subsequently the backup job to fail.

09.06.2017 · If the Tools are not running, the Veeam Guest Agent is unable to start and this ends in an unsuccessful hotbackup. What i've done so far: --> opened vmware support ticket (so far the support did not find the cause of this)
