Calculating Spearman's rank correlation on these datasets gives some strange results. The correlation coefficients show that the pairs of variables are weakly, positively correlated (e.g. rho of around 0.4), but the p-values are very low (e.g. 4.1e-10).
How to calculate p value and correlation coefficient for Spearman’s correlation for this data for 40000 permutations? I joined all 3 groups, g1, g2, g3, and extracted only Beta (B) I got this data frame, with matching 15568 entries:
The Spearman correlation coefficient, rs, can take values from +1 to -1. A rs of +1 indicates a perfect association of ranks, a rs of zero indicates no ...

The Wikipedia article Spearman's rank correlation coefficient contains an example for calculating ρ. At the end of the sections is the statement "...with a P-value = 0.6864058 (using the t distribution)." The author does not describe how the P-value was …

29.03.2021 · However, like many tests, the p-values for Pearson’s correlation are robust to departures from normality when you have a sample size greater than ~25. I’m not entirely sure about the assumptions for the Spearman’s p-values, but I believe they are the same because the use the same underlying methodology.

In fact, the statistical significance testing of the Spearman correlation does not provide you with any information about the strength of the relationship. Thus, achieving a value of p = 0.001, for example, does not mean that the relationship is stronger than if you achieved a value of p = 0.04.
