Apr 06, 2018 · First, not sure what you mean 'standby' memory. With Hyper-V, memory is assigned to any running VM, including ones that are paused. Memory is grabbed when the VM starts up (whether from off or from saved), and is released when the VM is stopped (either saved or fully off).

Memory is grabbed when the VM starts up (whether from off or from saved), and is released when the VM is stopped (either saved or fully off). See the earlier post for some things to try - these will show you what memory is assigned and where.

Feb 05, 2014 · I have a Window 8.1 host trying to start a virtual machine through Hyper-V. The VM is configure to use 10GB of RAM, I have 16GB, it should start but it doesn't. Most of them are occupied. I tried disabling startup apps but the result remains the same. Even After a reboot I fail to run a VM with 4 GB of memory.
