12.01.2013 · wl is the driver that works well, but which gets loaded at boot is seemingly random. How can I blacklist bcma-pci-bridge and guarantee that wl is loaded? Here's what I've put in blacklist.conf in /etc/modprobe.d

The bcmamodule is just the driver for the PCI/PCIe interface module, which will act as a "bridge" between the PCI/PCIe bus and Broadcom's proprietary bus. Once loaded, it will identify the other modules on the Broadcom bus and auto-load drivers for them if possible. The brcmsmacis the driver for the actual WiFi hardware module.

Switching kernels will be very unlikely to help. I've helped 3 or 4 people in the last couple weeks where this issue has shown up with a variety of broadcom chips.
