Mint is based on ubuntu, which is a debian system. The updates will be a bit older, so you may not have the latest driver, but it will be much more stable. Manjaro has its bugginess and Linux mint by default comes with an older kernel and older mesa versions. 6700xt is relatively recent so you want some more recent graphics packages for the best experience. Pop does update the kernel and mesa drivers quicker than most other Ubuntu based distros by default, including Mint.

I totally agree with you and it's annoying how basically a lot of the Reddit community blindly recommends Manjaro, Mint or other distributions with problems. In my opinion it would be better if communities focused on improving the main branch rather than forks.

level 1. FlowXP. · 1y · edited 1y Linux Mint 19.1 Tessa | Cinnamon. For me Manjaro was the absolute fastest distro. And KDE has a special place in my heart. But was not as stable as Mint and needed much more maintenance. Also I'm not an expert in Arch and a big issue was the packages found online.

Fedora vs Manjaro vs Ubuntu. I am currently using Mint as my daily driver. One thing that I don't really like is that everything in it is so old, as it is based on Ubuntu LTS. My use case is gaming and college work, I also value privacy. I like GNOME, but the lack of it not a deal breaker. Ubuntu 21.10 is decently updated, but also reliable.

Manjaro is rolling release distro which means it gets updated everyday whereas Linux Mint is released every time new Ubuntu LTS comes. Linux Mint is for stability and ease of usage whereas Manjaro is for cutting edge Linux technology. Both do their jobs very well. You can try both and go with the one you like most.
