While Synology provides Hardware Appliances, Nextcloud is a software solution. Also the goal is different. While Synology is a NAS with benefits, Nextcloud wants to be an alternative to the cloud-solutions from Google/Microsoft. They are not really comparable. With Nextcloud it's all stored as regular files, much easier to backup and use anywhere. The problem is there are plenty of solutions like yours but I have no idea where to put the comments suggested since the implementation of Nextcloud on a Synology NAS is rather different than on full Linux.
