Synology offers with DSM and the packages almost the same possibilities as Nextcloud. In my opinion, Synology offers more possibilities and often works better than Nextcloud. I can imagine that Nextcloud is a good alternative for people who don't have Synology NAS. But choosing Nextcloud on a Synology NAS, I don't understand.

Overall I like Nextcloud a lot, its versatile, fast, and has a lot of apps (add-ons) - Group Folders, RansomWare protection, and email attachments. But it is more complex than Synology's Drive and Moments. There's a good more to configure and administer (Well depending on your user count) - I'm just shy of a 100 users with an LDAP backend.
