opkg update wont work. ping to any local domain name wont work but to an ip address it would work. ntp update wont work, etc., now, i go and configure pihole ip in /etc/resolve.conf, everything marked above would start working. im not sure why this is happening as i have already set pi hole as dns server in both lan and wan interfaces.

I have added the custom DNS server to the DHCP server (this works! But I also want to make openwrt forward all DNS requests to my DNS server.).

If I try to use my ISP's DNS servers I get a webpage from my ISP stating that it cannot resolve the names. if the device has a single port, it's probably configured as a router anyway because that's what OpenWrt usually does so it has a static IP 192.168.1.1, no gateway or dns server set up so it won't connect to the Internet (or even local network if it is not 192.168.1.x) in this state.
