that said, proxmox is a different type of aproach and design concept. its made for small installations up to 20-30 hosts (more wont fly easy in one cluster) and only optional shared storage. in contrary it is designed to be flexible and more tailored to your needs on less machines.

It's probably the wrong way to do it but I made a privileged container, installed cifs-utils on it and mounted my samba shares like normal in fstab.. It wasn't until after I found that there's an option for NFS/samba under the options tab in proxmox.
