18.08.2021 · Pretty stubborn these little bastards. Now all of the 8 disks are 10TB and I do not intend to do a dd of the whole disk, because that's 14hours for each disk, so I'd really appreciate if someone has an idea how to achieve a wipe.

Both the drives were zfs members in TrueNAS but not Proxmox. Moreover, Proxmox somewhere stores that wrong (not updated) status and therefore does not handle the disks right (i.e. being free for other use) /dev/sda was wiped already, /dev/sdb wipe no problem: DEVICE OFFSET TYPE UUID LABEL.

30.07.2021 · Hi. I did screw up. I remove my PBS backup disk from the server and from the ZFS disks. I can see the disk on the disks list of the GUI. If I try to wipe it, it says disk/partition '/dev/sdb' has a holder (500) I tried to import it through the command line using zpool import -a -f -d /dev/sdb. The msg is no pool available to import.

So if there is poor soul like me and you search Reddit first: (I entered the commands over SSH as root user, I think you can also directly in Proxmox shell) zfs get volsize (for getting all disks) zfs get volsize rpool/data/vm-100-disk-2 (my example of checking disk first) zfs set volsize=32G rpool/data/vm-100-disk-2 (shrinking the disk to 32 GB)
