Sep 17, 2020 · I think the CPU total is the amound of time the CPU is actively doing stuff. And the CUDA time is the amount of time the GPU is actively doing stuff. So in your case, the CPU doesn’t have much to do and the GPU is doing all the heavy lifting (and the CPU just waits for the GPU to finish its work).

What is PyTorch GPU? GPU helps to perform a huge number of computations in a parallel format so that the work is completed faster. Operations are carried out in queuing form so that users can view both synchronous and asynchronous operations where data is copied simultaneously between CPU and GPU or between two GPUs.

PyTorch benchmark module was designed to be familiar to those who have used the timeit module before. However, its defaults make it easier and safer to use for benchmarking PyTorch code. Let’s first compare the same basic API as above. import torch.utils.benchmark as benchmark t0 = benchmark.Timer( stmt='batched_dot_mul_sum (x, x)', setup ...

20.10.2021 · When I compare pytorch on cpu and gpu in two use cases of mine the gpu is always a bit slower. I would like to have a code example I can just execute myself where the gpu is supposed to beat the cpu. If it works I want to use it to improve my code. However I wasn’t able to find any pytorch code where a comparsion between cpu and gpu is implemented, except for 1 …
