25.04.2018 · of course I understand we don’t want to compute gradients here - but i don’t fully understand the difference between all those 3 methods… also If i’m not mistaken in previous versions of pytorch we used volatile=true which was considered more memory efficient (please correct me if i’m wrong) which is now replaced by with torch.no_grad():

18.11.2020 · Tensors are “elementary” autograd objects. And so either the whole Tensor requires gradients or not. Note that you can just zero-out the gradients after they are computed if you just want to not have gradients for some entries in there. (you can even do that with a hook to make sure it happens every time a gradient is computed for that Tensor).
