And the best Smart TV is arguably a Roku TV. And it's almost always better to have a Roku Ultra (or whatever the top line is) than to have a lesser Roku or a Roku TV. In short, IMHO, unless you're planning to go all out an get something like a top of the line "whatever" TV (e.g. a LG OLED), I think a TCL Roku TV is a good choice.

We're finally replacing an old TV, and I saw some largish Roku ones for great prices. That said, I'm wondering about their lifespan.

Our old Roku Premiere works just fine never has issues but I agree with others on here that the Roku TV on this TCL tv was awful.

TV's in this size will be a slight step up from 32's but will still be inherently Low End At this time the only 43 that is even acceptable is the Sony XR43X85J however it is still subpar. Samsung has announced an upcoming QN90A 43 Inch Size Variant HOWEVER we do not know if it will be deprecated, wait for reviews on this model as there is talk of it being an IPS panel.

Not the TV's fault, exactly, and probably an unpopular opinion, but I strongly prefer my Fire TV Stick to the Roku software. In fact, after using the Roku TV for about a week, I plugged my Fire TV Stick back in and started using it exclusively before I decided to move the old TV to my bedroom, so I needed the stick again.

The Roku 3 has slowed down a bit but we keep it only because I can't get MotorTrend on the smart TV that it is connected to. At the time we bought the Roku TV, it was only $20 more than a new Roku unit. The interface on the TV is so much better even if it died today I would still replace the TV vs a new stand alone unit.
