29.11.2014 · The entire installation process goes well and prompts me to reboot to finish installation. It reboots, I get to the login screen with the drums, it looks like the desktop is going to fire up and then the screen goes black and the only thing active is the mouse pointer. I can access the terminal through Ctrl+Alt+F1.

I am using a mid-2010-Macbook (7,1) in UEFI-mode with only arch linux installed. Next thing I am going to try is the installation of the Nvidia-driver instead of nouveau. Hopefully this will work.

22.02.2015 · After installing SDDM and invoking it with systemctl start sddm.service it only shows the mouse cursor, and a black screen. From the log, I think this warning might be the reason: (WW) QOpenGLShader: could not create shader. but there doesn't seem to be more information.

Recently I made an upgrade of artix on my 10th gen intel laptop and ran into problems with SDDM; screen went black but I got mouse cursor.

When you get to the black screen hit ctrl+alt+f1 and log in into terminal with your username and password. If would be good if you can connect your pc to internet with lan cable.

I have an Asus ROG Strix GL502VS 7th-Gen, with KDE Plasma and SDDM installed. I use the proprietary NVidia drivers. After typically the second time i don't interact with my computer and it goes to sleep, when I wake my screen I get a black screen with only a cursor.

so startx gives me a xconsole. nevertheless the following snippet gives me only a black screen with a mouse cursor. systemctl start sddm.service.

02.07.2019 · Presenting a black screen via the Displayport, sometimes with the mouse pointer showing (weird!) yet when I connect a HDMI cable, there's the proper display (yet sometimes also locked up/frozen). Just a suggestion. I've only had this problem myself with newer kernels and latest Nvidia drivers, along with possibly also only when using SDDM.
