30.03.2021 · A few days ago, more exactly, on March 23, the Plex team released the official DSM 7 compatible Plex version that can be downloaded for free by all Synology users who currently have the DSM 7 installed on their NAS. In Package Center we’ll actually find the old version of Plex 1.21.0 while the new Plex version 1.24.5 for DSM 7 is available for download on the official Plex website.

One of the security-focused changes is how the system handles root privileges; Synology now prohibits services like Plex Media Server and other packages from gaining root privileges, and has restrictions on file system access.
