29.06.2021 · However, Synology seems to be saying DSM 7.0 is an improvement over the current s/w version that's getting pretty long in the tooth. Since I'm not really concerned about Photos/Videos at this point, I was hoping someone with some RC had some insight into whether 7.0 was more stable or had other improvements that made the upgrade worthwhile.
I have not upgraded to DSM 7 and won’t for a while, but just generally speaking I would caution against running early versions of any major operating system update (Synology, Mac, iOS, Windows, Linux).. These companies cannot test for everything and you do not want to do their beta testing for them.
17.09.2021 · I have installed DSM 7 on my DS-218J and it is running fine. I use the NAS for Surveillance Station app connected to one camera, backup 4 Mac computers using TimeMachine on the Macs & as a backup file store. All working fine. Regards. Phil.

Facts, FAQs and criticisms: ExFat Access and most / all of non Beta applications will not run yet on DSM 7. They will run once they are released for this new OS.
