USB devices (Wi-Fi dongle, Bluetooth dongle, 3G/4G dongle, USB DAC/speaker, and DTV dongle) are no longer supported in DSM 7.0. If your Synology NAS is currently connected via a wireless dongle, it will be disconnected after the update.

compile SPK with:sudo ./PkgCreate.py -v 7.0 -p evansport -c r8152 --min-sdk 7.0. extract the resulting SPK file as a zip and extract the r8152.ko file. put it on the synology and use insmod to load the module. enable interface with:ifconfig eth1 up. yay USB 2.5Gbit ethernet working on DSM 7.0 Beta. No downgrade needed.

Drivers can pretty easily be adapted to work on DSM 7.0. i got my RTL8156 2.5Gbe usb ethernet adapter working in about two afternoons.

11.08.2021 · In DSM 7 the use of USB will be no longer supported for playback music with Audio Station or any other music app. I do not understand why. A few month ago a bought a brand new DS920+ especially for running Roon on it and playback music via USB. With the coming of DSM 7 this will not be possible anymore.

Jan 01, 2021 · @beatskip because DSM is nothing more than a lot of bundled software around a Linux kernel, it's not a question of continuing to have the ability to 'adapt' drivers to work with DSM 7.0 — that's the 'easy' bit, since, as you so well pointed out, there are lots of people out there developing their own drivers for pretty much everything out there.
