I have a strange problem. I have a Synology NAS I created an NFS share on and added all of my hosts on the NFS permissions page on the NAS. I then went into the vSphere Web Client and connected the NFS share to the cluster. It connected perfectly fine on all but one host (4 worked fine, the other didn't).

Save and exit vi. esxcfg-nas -d <stale_NFS_mount>. Delete the temporary entry that you added to the /etc/hosts file in Step 4 using vi. You should now be able to add the NFS volume through the vSphere client. Turn off SSH access. Simple solution, but one for a problem that seems more or less broken in the software stack.

If you have multiple VMKernel Interfaces, you probably added the wrong one to the exports, to check: esxcfg-route -l. Figure out which VMK will be used to reach the NFS export. 2. esxcfg-vmknic -l.
