05.10.2021 · Many models use a sigmoid layer right before the binary cross entropy layer. In this case, combine the two layers using torch.nn.functional.binary_cross_entropy_with_logits or torch.nn.BCEWithLogitsLoss. binary_cross_entropy_with_logits and BCEWithLogits are safe to autocast. import torch from torch import nn # last layer sigmoid = nn.Sigmoid ...

21.01.2022 · Custom Sigmoid (the network is not trained) boomland (Yaroslav Pudyakov) January 21, 2022, 5:06pm #1. I tried to write my custom layer for sigmoid. But it doesn’t work. The network is not trained. If I replace the activation function with the standard torch.nn.Sigmoid () then it starts learning and achieves great accuracy.

BCELoss — PyTorch 1.10.1 documentation
https://pytorch.org/docs/stable/generated/torch.nn.BCELoss.html
Our solution is that BCELoss clamps its log function outputs to be greater than or equal to -100. This way, we can always have a finite loss value and a linear backward method. weight ( Tensor, optional) – a manual rescaling weight given to the loss of each batch element. If given, has to be a Tensor of size nbatch.

This loss combines a Sigmoid layer and the BCELoss in one single class. This version is more numerically stable than using a plain Sigmoid followed by a BCELoss as, by combining the operations into one layer, we take advantage of the log-sum-exp trick for numerical stability. The unreduced (i.e. with reduction set to 'none') loss can be described as:
