I would think our bottle neck is at the Target due to storing the backups on the slower disks. Our infrastructure: 4 node Hyper-V Cluster, 2x 10G Teaming dedicated for Veeam Backup Network

This would not always result in the best performance when a backup job took place, as it was defaulting to Network mode. I noticed that the backup job reported the bottleneck was "Source."

28.08.2016 · Bottleneck source means that your production VM storage cannot provide data any faster. That said, there always will be a bottleneck, in any setup and, as far as I can get, you're also backing up proxy server in these jobs, however, proxy cannot hotadd itself (so is backed up using network) and CBT cannot be used for backing it up, so this affects the overall job performance as well.

The proxy is simply the veeam server itself. ~ I am going to add 10Gb cards to both the ESXi Host & the Veeam backup server and use a 10Gb Direct cable to connect the two of them, however before I configure all of that, I want to make sure that I'm addressing the source bottleneck first.
Jun 11, 2012 · Veeam says the bottleneck is source 99%, Proxy 57%, Network 0%, Target 0% Im just testing currently doing a low budget fesability test to try to get some funding releast. The thing is I don't know if its slow because im using the free version.
