You can also right-click the backup and select Delete from disk. To remove backups with GFS flags (weekly, monthly and yearly), select the Remove GFS full backups check box and click Yes.
Adjust the rention policy and let Veeam do its thing. Manually remove the restore points by going to Disk (Copy) > select the job > properties > select the file/restore point > remove from disk. Navigate to the share via file explorer > find the vbk > delete > rescan the storage repository. Option 2 only lets me copy file path.

Jun 10, 2014 · To get some space back I will need to delete some old restore points. Is the best way to do this through Windows Explorer or will this cause some database issues? I realise Veeam will delete the old backups when a new one takes it's place but without the space for that I need to do something. Thanks in advance.

Nov 10, 2020 · From the Veeam Backup & Replication Console I could delete from disk the jobs and it would NOT show I had more disk space in windows file explorer. I had to schedule a job to "Preform backup files health check" and then the next day I could "Delete from disk" the backups to actually get disk space back. I ended up deleting ALL my backups.
May 07, 2018 · I thought it was possible to remove restore points within Veeam by going to disk (copy) > selecting the properties of the back up copy job > selecting the restore point > selecting delete from disk. When I attempt to do this the only option I have is to copy the backup file path.
Solution: You can delete the older restore point and then run a re-scan on ... disk" which will remove the points from disk as well as clean Veeam DB up.

This has been running well since commissioned in 2018 but now is down to 51GB free. Our backups are failing nightly now. I freed some space but this has not helped.
