Mar 29, 2017 · I was just facing the same problem few minutes ago. In Veeam the backup on a particular VM remains at 0% at "creating checkpoint". When go to the corresponding host that sits the VM the checkpoint stuck at 9%. In order to resolve immediate problem I need to go to Task Manager to kill vmms.exe process tree.

I’m using Veeam, and i have like 10 or 12 .avhdx files, when i listed the checkpoints only listed “DPM-**” which is the actual checkpoint i wanted to deleted.. the query worked, but the .avhx didn’t merge at all, it just dissapeared the “checkpoint” from hyper-v (btw. im using scvmm too).

01.03.2013 · Open the Task Manager on the Veeam Server and kill all VeeamAgent.exe processes. Note: Some VeeamAgent.exe process will be located on Source Proxies and Windows Repositories that are not the Veeam Server. Wait 5-10 minutes for the tasks to timeout and fail. The only change was we upgraded to Veeam 9.5 Update Rollup 4, and then we started experiencing these issues with Checkpoints and Disk Locks.

14.10.2021 · The auto-recovery checkpoint is merged with the original VM. The volume snapshot is presented to Veeam Backup & Replication. Veeam Backup & Replication reads VM data from the volume snapshot in one of two backup modes — on-host backup or off-host backup.

How we noticed this was the failing Veeam Backup and Replica Jobs to and from this host. You can see that it is stuck with Creating Checkpoint at 9%.
