Sep 01, 2020 · If you delete backup chain files manually our agent is unaware of the disk content change and will still list those missing restore points under restore wizards UI (upon selecting which you will receive an error). In case with manual prunes, it is best to delete entire chain (vbk+vib). /Thanks! Top.

Jan 17, 2014 · Jobs are set to save 3 restore points and delete data from backup after 5 days, however 7+ days theres still two vbk files. After a new full backup I want Veeam to delete the last old full backup and all the incrementals after it. We just don't have the space right now to keep all of this.

When you delete backup files from a disk, Veeam Backup & Replication deletes the whole chain from the backup repository. Thus, on the next run of the backup job, Veeam Backup & Replication will create full backups for VMs included in the job. Mind the following: Do not delete backup files from the backup repository manually.

I can see the files in the folder view, but want to make sure that there is no unintended consequences. I understand that if I were to delete a VBK that it would effect the incramentals attached to it, but what would deleting an incramental do?

May 22, 2021 · Veeam cannot delete your oldest vbk and the vib yet, because they are needed to restore your backups in the required Retention Period from the oldest chain (10-14 May). vbk = FullBackup. vib = incremental Bsckup
