12.10.2015 · Using Veeam I did a Guest Files restoration and selected the affected areas that I had identified earlier, and restored to a new location (not over the original files.) Once that restore completed, I used a tool called Araxis Merge to compare the restored file structure with the live one on the server, and quickly identified and replaced the trashed files.

I got through it by copying them in smaller chunks. Just stunk that Veeam wouldn't only restore the missing files and skip the existing.

Using a third party tool I located the changed, not "*.odin" named files and copied them over to a non affected partition. Afterwards i restored the full vmdk file and copied back the changed files manually.
