By default, Veeam Backup & Replication is set up to perform discovery at 9:00 PM daily. You can adjust daily schedule in the protection group settings or define periodic schedule.

Error: Cannot proceed with the job: existing backup meta file ‚Job.vbm‘ on repository ‚Backup‘ is not synchronized with the DB. To resolve this, run repository rescan.

The rescan is the heart of managed Agents operations, until it completes, successfully, the job will never run. In this case you'll find the machine in the default "manually added" group, that's where machines are dropped when jobs are made at the top level, rather than starting at protection groups and building upwards.

Actually there're periodic automatic rescans in Veeam B&R, so I recommend to contact technical support for a closer look at the issue. You could also contact the cloud provider with this, since the issue might be on their side. Thanks.

19.08.2012 · You shouldn't need a rescan to find restore points. When a Backup Job makes new files, Veeam already knows about it, so no need for a rescan. Rescans are there for when you're moving backup files around underneath and want Veeam to 'detect' new backups that have been imported from another system / disk / whatever.
