You can safely delete them all. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, then use Storage Migration to move the VM elsewhere. It will only move active files.

Hey All, As per the title, i'm about to delete an old checkpoint, do i need to turn the Vm off first or can this be done online. The AVHDX file has grow to around 250GB and i'm happy the the VM is running the new appliation ok so i dont need the "Before checkpoint"

Deleting it via Hyper-V manager will trigger a snapshot consolidation, which will create a temporary copy of your primary VHDX file plus the size of the snapshot, removing the old files as soon as the merge process finishes. So, yes, you need to free up the space equivalent to your VM plus checkpoint size.
