Nvidia + Nouveau + Wayland: Logs in, and instantly freezes my machine. Nvidia + Proprietary + Wayland: Either no log in possible or it logs me in and instantly renders the UI completely useless (still working, i can see my mouse). It tears up and moves parts all over the place. It's not that with Nouveau it's unuseable.

NVIDIA I'm not a KDE developer, however I am a tinkerer and a software engineer, and so I have been walking around giving KDE a little bit a tough love as regards to Wayland and NVIDIA and compositing. So, in that spirit, I think it is only fitting that I share success when I see one as well.

This change is for Plasma 5.22 and deals with KDE's EGLStreams handling in conjunction with the binary NVIDIA driver. - The KDE Plasma Wayland session's system tray will now show if something is recording the screen and allow it to be cancelled.
If you want to try wayland currently, qt5-wayland needs to be patched or else, all the plasma panels and widgets don't update or respond well. This is the patch. Plus there is now NVIDIA support via the GBM path. So if all goes well, 2022 could be the year of the great KDE Wayland desktop. - Overhauling the Breeze icon set.
