2. More packages. Proprietary software often target and support Ubuntu first, some will only provide .deb(for Ubuntu and debian) and .rpm(for Fedora and openSUSE) packages or use Ubuntu's PPAs, if they are not already in Manjaro repo, you will need to compile and install them yourself or search for Arch's AUR.

Both Manjaro (Arch) and Kubuntu (Ubuntu -> Debian) are KDE based distros (obviously) Manjaro updates KDE Plasma faster than Kubuntu. Kubuntu provides long term stability with powerful apt. But also some of us have found Manjaro more stable. Font aliasing is better on Kubuntu which could help to stare at alphabets longer with ease.

For a user new to Linux, especially where you're not using the machine to generate revenue or support a business, there's no practical difference between trying Ubuntu and trying Manjaro. They're both solid distros, and while different in many detail aspects they are both solid, well developed and well supported operating systems.

The biggest difference between the two is that one is Arch based (Manjaro) and the other one is Debian based (Ubuntu). In a day-to-day use, this difference will be mostly noticeable when dealing with package management and, imo, Ubuntu is slightly more beginner friendly in that regard.

Fedora vs Manjaro vs Ubuntu. I am currently using Mint as my daily driver. One thing that I don't really like is that everything in it is so old, as it is based on Ubuntu LTS. My use case is gaming and college work, I also value privacy. I like GNOME, but the lack of it not a deal breaker. Ubuntu 21.10 is decently updated, but also reliable.

Manjaro is based on a rolling release distribution called Arch. The thing about rolling release is getting the updates as soon as they are out, whereas Manjaro holds them back for a week without a good reason. They don't check them, do anything with them but instead hold them back.
