It is recommended for nonlinear problems and is well suited for ill-conditioned problems. The PCG solver (also known as the Power Solver) is an iterative conjugate gradient solver. It is the most robust iterative solver and is well suited for large, linear problems built from continuum elements.

14.06.2019 · the solver for my project (1Mio DOFs) is using the direct Sparse Matrix solver. But I have limited RAM and he is always going into out-core memory mode regarding to the solution output. Therefore I changed the Solver type to iterative and put the EQSLV, PCG command under the Static Structural branch.

The analysis can be a modal analysis using the PCG Lanczos method (MODOPT,LANPCG). Large deflection effects (NLGEOM,ON) are included. SOLID185 (brick shapes and KEYOPT (2) = 3 only) elements can be included. All other element types or other parts of the model that don’t meet the above criteria will be solved using global assembly (MSAVE,OFF).
