26.03.2018 · I can tell you DD-Wrt works well on the R8000, there is a Guru (myersw) over in the DD-Wrt forum that has both the R8000 & the R8000P and is running ddwrt version r35767 on his r8000 with no problem. Just make sure you use the factory-to-ddwrt. chk file, from the stock Netgear UI and you should be fine.

28.04.2018 · I'd also donate some cash for that. I now have this r8000p sitting on my office floor unused, until the release of DD-WRT comes out for it. I can't wait to fire it up. The default firmware was trash, so I won't use this device until I can put DD-WRT on it.

05.09.2018 · Now since both router use the same internal configuration what you could do is download Kong’s R8000, open the file with an Hex editor and change the board id to match the R8000P and that would allow you to try DD WRT for the R8000 on your R8000P. Let me know if you need anymore help.

22.08.2014 · The R8000 works brilliantly with teh DD-WRT firmware. My only critisism is that the WPS funtion doesn't seem to work in the first release. Hopefully this will come in future. As a word of warning the hidemyass configuration script for open VPN doesn't work. You can manually set up open VPN on it.
