22.08.2014 · The R8000 works brilliantly with teh DD-WRT firmware. My only critisism is that the WPS funtion doesn't seem to work in the first release. Hopefully this will come in future. As a word of warning the hidemyass configuration script for open VPN doesn't work.

I am noticing that the stock firmware that came with the Netgear has much better performance vs. when running ddwrt. With the Netgear stock firmware I am able to achieve speeds of 300Mbps (via speedtest.net) on the 5Ghz band.

Mar 31, 2019 · On my r8000 when I had put dd-wrt on it I had to resort to the serial cable route. Lots of folks seem to have problems getting the timing just right with the tftp which I have done. I typically have 2 windows command windows open one for the tftp command ready to be started and the other with a constant ping of the router's default address.
