There is an R6300v2 DD-WRT build, but the latest forum posts for tested builds are pretty old. On the other hand, I see several mentions of the R6300v2 in the last FreshTomato changelog. From what I understand, DD-WRT probably has more features, but I don't know if any of those are ones I'd even be able to make use of if I wanted to.
20.05.2016 · BTW, I found with tomato, no matter how I changed the antenna power, I got weaker signal and slower speed. I have to revert back to dd-wrt. I love to use Tomato, but I just cannot stream 1080p video from my master bedroom while I can with netgear/dd-wrt.

13.08.2017 · I flashed tomato-R8000-AT-ARM7-3.4-140-AIO-64K as per instructions. Wifi mysteriously buffers at random times, making it look like somebody is pulling the wan cable, while wifi signal is strong. I put this on hoping it would get better coverage on my house than the stock which it does marginally but at the price of awful buffering.
Mar 12, 2021 · On top of that, DD-WRT is supported by a much wider variety of routers than Tomato. It covers well-known models, such as the Nightgear Nethawk and all the Asus and Linksys routers that Tomato covers.

18.01.2020 · I just recently purchased a new Netgear R8000 router and loaded the latest version of DD-WRT (v3.0-r41811). I am noticing that the stock firmware that came with the Netgear has much better performance vs. when running ddwrt. With the Netgear stock firmware I am able to achieve speeds of 300Mbps (via speedtest.net) on the 5Ghz band.
