I'm using Arch Linux with BTRFS. Up to a couple of days ago I had the autodefrag mount option in fstab. Whenever I booted my system btrfs-cleaner appeared at the top of {h,b}top utilizing one CPU core with about 100%. Not only for a few minutes but for hours - actually until shutdown.

So I wonder why this does happen, as my BTRFS system partition should meet the requirements (e.g. having two subvolumes, @ and @home):

Feb 02, 2021 · Timeshift btrfs snapshots require OS to be installed on btrfs file system. Only then it can benefit from btrfs. This is what this message is telling you. You can choose empty disc or partition with btrfs, but timeshift will only store files there, it won’t make any snapshots of the storage disk, so btrfs feature won’t be utilized.
