The advantages of snapper vs time shift is that it has package manager plugins (obviously pacman for anything arch based, but they have ones for apt, dnf and others as well), so it will make a snapshot every time you install a program or update the system. 1

If you wanted to try it out it would put you in a better position to provide feedback about your experience using it, which could help make improvements or adjustments in the future.
