Home Server Virtualization - ESXI or UnRaid : homelab
www.reddit.com › r › homelabComparing ESXi and unRAID is really an apples to oranges comparison. unRAID was initially built to provide storage services (like FreeNAS) and only recently added support for virtualization. This addition is quite cool, but the distro is still heavily build around setting up storage, providing storage, having redundancy with that storage, etc.
ESXi vs unRAID - reddit.com
www.reddit.com › comments › ognnbeUnRAID is pretty good and it is easy to use. I assume it is KVM based so you should get used to manage it. ESXi is nice, but it doesn't have "RAID" capabilities out of the box. You will need to use any kind of software RAID inside of the VM or hardware RAID. Moreover, ESXi Free is limited. https://www.vmwareblog.org/esxi-free-buy-esxi-anyway/
