Make sure to boot the unraid OS on your server without proxmox running, in other words, you can have proxmox installed, but boot from the key once to make sure it is going to work with your hardware. I went through three USB drives, even two of the same type, before I found one that would work!

08.05.2021 · When you go for a setup like this, it would be wise not to run virtual machines or containers inside Unraid (in fact, that won't work unless you enable nested virtualization). That's fine by me. I chose Proxmox because it's a lightweight hypervisor dedicated to running KVM VM's and LXC containers, nothing else.

Jun 06, 2020 · FreeNAS runs fine in a PROXMOX VM but if you want it for ZFS PROXMOX supports that natively. I can't comment on UNRAID though. 29.07.2019 · i'm using ProxMox 4.0 as native hypervisor on my machine and have unRAID 6.1.4 Pro running as guest. everything works (what i tested) perfect so far (*). anyway, to let you know beforehand: ProxMox doesn't passthrough virtualization features to guests (so i guess no virtualization inside a virtualized [unRAID] environment). dockers, of course, do work as expected.
