to my knowledge, QNAP has 2 operating systems QES and QTS, which each use a different file system, QES uses ZFS and QTSa system comparitable to Unraid's, now ZFS can (and by default does) use real time compression and deduplication, Unraid does neither of those things, depending on the kind of data, this can explain the difference.

The QNAP is connected the furthest away via. a second switch. The two unraid boxes are in the same wiring closet as the core switch. Both are connected with a single connection and reporting a gig connection. I will try swapping the cable on it to see if that makes any difference. Edit: See below, I did find the NIC reverted and re-ran test on 6.8.
