With iSCSI you need to register it as a local repository since disk will be presented locally to the Veeam B&R server. With SMB option you need to add file share as SMB repository. Cheers!
I'm just looking for a way to use a new large Synology for hardened / immuteable Veeam Backup. I've already a normal repository on another Synology (virtual linux server with nfs mounted volumes) but nfs mounted volumes are not supported for immutability.

After opening the Veeam console, to add the new NAS volume for backup repository, click Backup Infrastructure at the bottom right, and then click backup repositories from the left-hand menu.
