The tape library is HP 1x8 G2 AUTOLDR 5.20 with 7 tape and 1 cleaning tape. The cleaning tape should be unrecognized, but the cleaning tape is in the media pool which I created.

When you load a new virtual tape into a tape drive for the first time, the tape is not recognized by the Veeam backup application.

13.03.2015 · Import Tape and Erase don't show on the ribbon. I did find a quick fix on Veeam site for a similar issue of "Unknown MTF writer". Supposedly, now after running Inventory Drive, it should see the tape and move it to Unrecognized. I will update this topic once I have again inserted a tape.

Jan 06, 2011 · Since Update to Version 9.5 of Veeam B&R i see an "old" LTO5 Cleaning Tape under "unrecognized" Tapes . It is impossible to delete it from Catalog , or delete it anyway . We dont need this Tape anymore and it difusses when you look in the Tape Overview . How is it possible to remove this Tape from the Catalog ? Thanks Michael
