Manjaro boots to a black screen when monitor is plugged in via HDMI cable. I'm facing a severe issue with my monitor. It took me a while to finally debug and understand what's going on better. The later half of my problem appears to be related Linux / Manjaro related. Some background first: I have a Viewsonic (1080p / 144 Hz) monitor.
06.10.2020 · Manjaro 20 Gnome has been running great for a month on my AMD 64-bit desktop until an update 2 days ago. Now it boots to a black screen. I found a temporary solution and have to hold down Ctrl + Alt + F2 to get to a tty2. Than I log in and type startx. That brings up the gui. Before the update Manjaro would boot right to the desktop gui.
28.12.2020 · I press esc directly after powering up, enter setup, and can select between manjaro or UEFI for boot devices, but both take me to a blank screen. And yes, I did try the ‘startx’ option through tty as per one of the threads, no luck. TriMoon 29 December 2020 13:17 #3.
29.03.2019 · Hi guys, I had fully updated Manjaro (Gnome version) until yesterday evening. Then about 160 packages were to be updated. I used GNOME's application to do the update. Almost all went ok but postinstallation hook of Linux kernel didn't progress - as far as I remeber it was 3 out of 160 hooks to be run. I waited over 10 hours but the hook didn't fired up. Then I rebooted …
