Tried Wayland on NVIDIA today. *Almost* everything works. I've been using KDE Plasma 5 under Kubuntu for years now, and everything has long worked perfectly out of the box under X11. I consider it by far the most polished Linux desktop environment there is. Today I tried Plasma 5 on Wayland with Kubuntu 21.04 and the NVIDIA 460 proprietary driver.

Jul 13, 2021 · KDE is on Wayland. Well, I have been using it on my desktop for some months now. And besides the odd glitch and bug here and there, it’s usable. It’s no where near as bad as people try to make it. But I don’t use Nvidia. Wayland on Nvidia is a different story all together.

You need Nvidia 470.xx driver and xwayland 21.1.2 to have acceleration. Gnome will give you the best wayland experience with Nvidia right now.

04.11.2020 · I run Manjaro Gnome live with proprietary drivers enabled. It detects my Nvidia Card but it runs with Xorg. Maybe it’s normal for live. On Arch wiki I read about Nvidia drivers, wayland, EGLStreams. Maybe it’s too much for me. I’m not interested in Nvidia - Linux war. If I could, I would change Nvidia card for AMD to avoid complications.

arch wiki says “run X clients under wayland”. ... Any specific kernel is needed?. I have nvidia-prime 470 drivers and everything updated.
