Unable to SSH/Telnet in Failsafe mode (although can ping) - failsafe ... to Telnet or SSH to router, just get a connection refused message.

03.06.2009 · I made it a step further, found after a bit of digging in the documentation a failsafe mode, put it into that, set a static ip of 192.168.1.2 on gateway 192.168.1.1 and I'm in through telnet, I don't think I've been so excited about something going my way in a long time !

It's worth mentioning, that trying to connect via SSH, either with no password, or my set root password, was returning Permission denied, please try again. which was a bit of a red herring. I've seen this video failsafe mode out but telnet connection is impossible yet (telnet, ssh and ping). Mickael.
